Osaka Auto Messe is like the little bro of Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS). It’s a three-day event, just like TAS, and also brings in attendance in the hundreds of thousands. But the show is a tad younger – celebrating only its 21st anniversary as opposed to TAS’s 35th – and it’s based in Japan’s third largest city of Osaka.
Just 350 miles southwest of Tokyo, Osaka lies within the Kansai region (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, etc.) We love the Kansai region because that’s where we seem to uncover the most enthusiast builds, as well as find most of Japan’s “mom and pop” tuner shops.
I’ve personally never attended Osaka Auto Messe, but I’ve only heard good things from our friends who’ve been. It’s definitely on my hit list for next year. However, while none of the staff could make it this year, that doesn’t mean we were going to let the show fall through the cracks! Our man in the field, David Ishikawa, is reporting for us and giving us the most up-to-date snaps from the show. According to David, he tells us this year’s Auto Messe features a lot more VIP builds, Kei trucks, and Toyota HiAce vans compared to TAS. He’s teased us with the best here, but stay tuned for more of David’s fresh photos from the 21st Osaka Auto Messe in the hours and days ahead!
