It's that time of year again. The 2013 Formula Drift season opener is days away at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach street course, April 12-13. Personally I couldn’t be any more excited as Formula D prepares to kick off its 10th anniversary in the U.S.
This past weekend Super Street, Import Tuner and other magazines in the Source Interlink media universe invited the Formula D drivers and teams out for a tech day and car meet. It's always great to see the cars before the first round action gets underway and the action starts to separate the men from the boys. By noon our entire parking lot was filled with cars, reportedly some 700 in all choked the lot at our Irvine HQ. At one point we had two rows filled with Nissan GT-Rs, even a R34! However it was the lady in the red dress, the Hakosuka, who stopped me in my tracks.
Later in the day we went around picking out a couple of our favorite builds and handed the owners a pair a Formula D tickets. It's possible that majority of the people were here to see smoking hot models and former magazine cover girls Sandra Wong and Holly Lee, or it could've been the awesome food trucks that stopped by. Either way we had a blast kicking it with the Formula D crew and everyone else who stopped by!
