There aren’t a whole lot of reasons we’ll get out of bed early on a Saturday morning, and most of those involve cars. Racing, wrenching, even just checking out cars – almost doesn’t matter what, we’ll brave hangovers and insomnia to drag our asses out from under the covers. And on the morning of March 19 we had two compelling reasons to forgo sleeping in, the fifth annual Targa Trophy German Car Festival and GMG Racing’s open house (more on this second event in a separate online post).
HRE Wheels and Flow Form hosted the fest at their facility in Vista, Calif., and it served as the starting point for the first Targa Trophy rally of 2016. We couldn’t do the caravan this year due to prior commitments, but we could at least check out the cars for a few hours, of which there were Porsche, BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and VW aplenty. The Boden Autohaus R8, Moto Deli E30 M3, and Targa Trophy M4 Were among the rides that made our heart pitter-patter, but really there was so much dreamy machinery there it was hard to pick a favorite.
It was a good time, and we only wish we had more time to chill with the eclectic mix of whips. If you want to see how they got down last year view the video recap above, and to see how this year’s Targa Trophy German Car Festival looked dive into the gallery below to see what you missed.
