It’s 2am in Houston, TX and the Super Street team just wrapped up surveying the parking lot scene at two major hotels surrounding the annual TX2K straight-line street car race event, Omni Houston at Westside and Marriott Westchase. For those wondering, the Omni hotel acted as a previous TX2K host hotel with the host hotel this year being the Marriott. Earlier in the day, evening storm clouds welcomed us into what is expected to be an on-and-off wet weekend for the massive gathering of extreme speed builds.
We’ve heard the inclement weather has turned some away including a 2,220+ hp Lambo (unofficial UGR build) but many remain and the Houston streets are buzzing with V8, V10, 2JZ, LS, rotary and RB26 engine notes. Police are out heavy as well. Bikes to domestics to parachute-equipped GT-Rs and everything in between – including today's viral Viper V10-powered Supra (the owner builds 2JZs and wanted to try something different) – are rolling in for another TX2K weekend.
We will be at Royal Purple Raceway bright and early, rain or shine to bring you this year’s TX2K15 action, starting with the roll-race finals. For now some quick photos snapped in dim lit parking lots and hotel garages.
