Unique & Limited Art Show – Rstrada Limited, Torrance, CA

High-end Porsche shop and U.S. representative for RUF is the setting for one incredible installation

Aug 31, 2016

There are shops, and then there are shops that completely elevate the perception of what a shop should be. Rstrada Limited falls into the latter category – a ridiculously clean, obsessively organized, remarkably equipped Porsche tuner that boasts the newest of the new garage tech and floors spotless enough to eat off of. We had the sheer joy of using Rstrada as the backdrop for a feature shoot of comic book artist Jon Sibal’s RWB Porsche 964 bound for the 2015 SEMA Show and found ourselves again at the tuner’s recently, this time checking out the impressive creations from Unique & Limited Gallery.

Unique & Limited hails from Prague in the Czech Republic and takes the art of printmaking to extraordinary new heights. With a stated goal of pumping new life into some of motorsports’ greatest stories from the past by using modern technology to create premium, large-scale prints, the firm’s technique seems more like those of a big-budget Hollywood film than simply taking a photograph and punching it up in Photoshop. Historically accurate locations, extras in period-correct clothing, simulated weather, the actual race cars themselves when possible – all these elements factor into U&L’s work, and after all the raw assets are collected the gallery’s small team of creatives go through the painstaking task of digitally assembling some truly jaw-dropping images.

Gallery founder and chief artist Jan Rambousek was on hand at the private showing, as was representative Isabell Mayrhofer, bringing with them what appeared to be dozens of works. The collection ranged from smaller pieces of what looked like promotional posters for Le Mans races from the 1960s and ‘70s to giant, garage door-sized prints featuring the Porsche 917 pursuing victory on the Circuit de la Sarthe. Check out the photo gallery to see just a sampling of what was on display, and for further details about Unique & Limited Gallery visit them online.

The event also served as a grand opening of sorts for Rstrada’s new location in Torrance. In addition to Porsche service and tuning, the high-end shop will be a showroom in the US for Unique & Limited, as well as a representative for German carmaker Ruf Automobile in California. To mark the occasion, a smattering of Ruf 911 – including a CTR “Yellowbird" – and a rare CTR3 were mixed in with the art. In the foyer and upstairs at Rstrada we also found an insane collection of die cast cars that made our visit all the more complete. To keep up with the shop, you can follow Rstrada Limited on Facebook.

Get into the photo gallery, and if you have a few minutes to spare check out our 16-minute stroll around the shop via Facebook Live.
