Burn OutAs in years past there will be a monster burn-out contest this year. Drive an import, domestic, truck, SUV, moped? Bring it and burn it down (your tires, that is). Of course the winner will be showered with tons of cash and prizes-in addition to small pieces of rubber and mass quantities of smoke.

Jump OffLuxor is presenting the Hydraulic Jump Off this year. The $9,100 in prize money is sure to attract the biggest and baddest hydraulic cars in the country. In years past we've watched everything from mini-trucks, to old school domestics (like late-'80s Chevys), to CRXs jump higher than Super Street Publisher MacGillivray on his backyard trampoline. If you've never seen a jump off you'd be well served to check out this competition.

Glow SticksWhile the rest of the world may just now be discovering the medicinal properties of neon, the NOPI boys and the Street Glow folks have been hip to the luminescent goo for years. Don't believe us? Then check out the neon contest that is sponsored by Street Glow. As this is going to print we don't know exactly what time it will be going on, but chances are good that it will be on Saturday night after dark (Duh!). There is also $500 in cash up for grabs here too.

Money, Money, MoneyWhile we're talking money we should probably let you know that there is more than $100,000 in cash, prizes, and awards being given away at NOPI this year. Yes, that's $100,000. So do what we're going to do, enter every possible contest and event you can. Chances are pretty good you'll walk away with something.

Boomin'What's that pumpin' sound? If it's not Super Street Group Director Howard Lim doing his usual NOPI Elvis shtick it has got to be the Sonic Boom Sound Competition. It's presented by American Radio and organized by IASCA and USAC, so you know it's going to be done right. What? I can't hear you. Did you say that you can win more than $2,000 in this competition? Yes you can. See, who does it better? Umm...no one.

Location, Location, LocationHave we mentioned that the NOPI Nationals Supershow takes place at the $80 million Atlanta Motor Speedway? Everyone thinks that the Speedway was built for things like NASCAR events. Actually, the truth is that it was purpose-built just for the NOPI show. No, really. Would we lie? Anyway, the facility is huge. Go there and see it yourself.

Power UpOne of the coolest parts of the show is the on-site chassis dyno where you can test your car. Wondering if that intake really added 175 hp? Here's your chance to find out. Roll up, let them strap it in place and let it fly. We've heard rumors that certain magazines have even strapped in a rental car or two during the weekend. We, of course, would never condone such behavior.

Cool Parts For Your CarIf there is a company that makes stuff for your car chances are that they'll have a booth at NOPI. How can we be so sure? Have you learned nothing from us? Look, it's NOPI. That means tons of vendors. This year the NOPI boys are saying there will be more than 300 vendor booths. Companies from all over the world will be on hand to show off their latest products and to talk to you about all of their parts. Maybe they'll even take time to teach our technical staff how all that performance stuff works. Well, we can dream can't we?

Hey LadiesOK, so there is part of the show that we don't really understand, but who are we to question? In fairness to all the ladies that attend the show (and there are a lot of them) the NOPI Boys came up with the idea of having a bodybuilding competition. As in male bodybuilders. So you can check out the World Bodybuilding Champion-ship, sponsored by Supernatural Body & Fitness. Contestants can win $5,000 and the event is hosted by Carlos of Ultimate Bodies. Carlos was nice enough to step in when our own hunk-a-hunk of burning love Howard Lim backed out when he was told he couldn't host the event wearing his Global Performance G-string.
