Categories: There are four (4) award categories (each with one Best Overall) and three (3) Awards of Excellence.
1. Complete Custom (Full Custom)Automobiles that have been certified as modified cars with major modification to interiors as well as exteriors, or those which have been manufactured into new, unique automobiles using vehicles sold in the market as base models. Cars which have not been accepted as Tuned Cars, Dressed-up Cars, or Minivan/ Wagon/SUV will be included in this category for the sake of convenience.
2. Tuned Cars (Performance Category)Domestic or import automobiles with tuning modifications made to the power system, principally the engines. The same requirements as specified under Dress-up Cars with regard to modifications on interiors or exteriors will apply. Vehicles are required to participate in the test runs and receive time slips from a credible race series such as NHRA, NDRA, Battle of the Imports, or IDRC.
3. Dressed-up Cars (Aftermarket Bolt-on Parts)Automobiles, whether domestic or imported, with uniquely dressed-up interiors and/or exteriors using bolt-on aero parts, wheels, or seats, using vehicles available in the market as the base model. Roofs and doors must not be changed from their basic configurations. Each of the parts must be capable of being mounted on the cars of the same models (available on the market) by bolts without any modification.
4. Van/ Wagon/SUVDomestic or import recreational vehicles, customized by tuners as specified under the category of Tuned Cars or modifications on interiors and/or exteriors as specified under the category of Dressed-up Cars, using minivans, wagons, or SUVs available in the market as the base model.
Acceptance and Move-in1. The limit is one vehicle per exhibitor.
2. Show Management reserves the right of acceptance and approval of all vehicles prior to being displayed. Vehicles will be placed and positioned in the Feature Vehicle Area or in other areas of the Show at Show Management's discretion only.
3. Show Management will notify you of vehicle acceptance during the last week of March.
4. All feature vehicles must move in the day before the show opening: Thursday, April 24, 2003. All vehicles must be in place by 5 p.m. that day. Owners will have until 8 p.m. that evening to set up or detail their vehicles. Move-out time for all vehicles is 5:01 p.m. at the close of the Show.
5. Show Management, the Sema International Auto Salon, Vision Entertainment, and the Los Angeles Convention Center decline all responsibility for any loss or damage suffered while on display, or at any other time.
Rules and Regulations1. The vehicle must be clean and free of body damage. All affixed signs, logos, and the like must be in good taste. Project cars and prototypes must be in a completed state.
2. It is preferred that you provide a descriptive sign giving special facts about the vehicle or acknowledging the contributors. Maximum sign size: 28x44 inches. No other marketing, advertising, or promotion will be permitted.
3. No retail sales permitted in the Feature Vehicle Areas.
4. Sales personnel may not staff the vehicle display.
5. Use of stanchions is NOT permitted.
6. If the vehicle requires an electrical supply, the sponsoring exhibitor will be responsible for the cost and ordering of electricity through the Los Angeles Convention Center. If exhibitor orders electrical service in advance of vehicle placement, it is the responsibility of the exhibitor to then notify the Convention Center on-site of the vehicle location once it is placed.
