Day 2
As opposed to the day before, we woke up with both a head and stomach ache, courtesy of the local adult entertainers and Waffle House, and once again, found ourselves in that uncomfortable spooning position with Matteo. The parking lot was full of our peeps who were, albeit just as groggy and out of it as we were, ready to do the quick 93-mile jaunt to the GMP (www.gmpperformance.com) lunch stop, where we would meet up with our old friend and GMP host, Steven "The Klitzsch Kommander" Klitzsch. Here we got to meet and greet a lot of new faces, then harassed all of them and their girlfriends by getting on the horn and announcing our second Enkei wheels giveaway. We were awestruck by not just one, but two RB25-converted S13 hatchbacks from Greensboro native Jarrod Silk and Aaron Hamilton, who made the drive from Baltimore. Our long distance runners were Sebastien Carrier and his roughneck homies from Quebec, Canada. Normally we would've brushed off these silly Canadians until we were told that his trunk had some funky junk in it: a fiberglass subwoofer enclosure that Sebastien crafted after 400 hours of molding with his girlfriend. We weren't sure how to react: majorly turned on or just really creeped out. Either way, we were really impressed. Relative newcomer Orlando Sanchez cruised with a gang of his homies from New York to show off his money Civic SiR, an authentic right-hander that he promptly bottomed-out on the rutted dirt road, tearing the bumper from his passenger side fender-way to go! Kenny and Cobb got to talking about old times while Nads interjected with his Max Power glory days while the rest of the Tour left them behind. After reaching the Atlanta Motorspeedway, we threw nasty looks at anyone from the South or West legs, then hit the track as the RS*R drift cars led as pace cars for Tour goers who were allowed plenty of rounds around the oval.
The Saturday night after getting into Atlanta, we capped off the 2005 Tour with a thank you party for all our supporters, including Tour sponsors, participants, and industry icons including Christian Rado, Steph Papadakis, Shawn Hillier, and Marty Ladwig. Even MTV's Pimp My Ride West Coast Customs' staff and Hogan Knows Best's Nick Hogan came to get their swerve on with us. DJ Billy E threw down a healthy supply of hip hop beats while we, the old, perverted guys, continued to harass unsuspecting and willing young females, much to our delight. Certainly, if we had any worries before, they were all gone by then. Thanks again to everyone for making this year's Tour, especially the North leg, a massive success!
