Sunburnt faces. Wallets overstuffed with receipts. Delayed flights.Missing luggage with clothes that smell like smoke and sweat. A neck full of Super Street X beads. Parties. Beautiful girls. Dope cars. What do all of these things have in common? We'll give you a hint. It ain't Mardi Gras. If you didn't guess Spring Break Tuner Bash South Padre Island then either stop smoking whatever you're smoking or share it with the rest of the class. It's only the second year since we were CBed by Daytona Beach, but we've flourished in Texas and never looked back. Good luck with those retirement homes, by the way.
Event Coverage
Our Thursday night pre-party kickoff was held at Acoustic Edge in Houston with plenty of BBQ beef and specie spicy sausage to go around. In addition to being a top installer, Acoustic Edge can also school you in the finer points of mobile installation at its in-house school (www.stereoschool.com)
After the party we doused ourselves good at a local watering hole with Bob and Josh from Acoustic Edge. We lost our heads and a few of us lost our shirts (unfortunately none of themwere female)
Bright and early Friday morning we set off on our quick eight-hour Trek to South Padre Island where the rest of the crew awaited our arrival. Seeing how the person driving one of theminivans is the one who printed out the directions, it's pretty retarded that we got lost five or six times on our 384-mile trip. Fortunately, we didn't drive into Mexico like Yamz tried to do. Die-hard Super Street supporter Greg Lilly drove his beautiful black STi the entire way, blown turbo seals and all.
We could go off about how disgustingly awesome the Bash was, but then it'd just make you feel miserable that you didn't make it down. Instead, you decided to stay home while it rained and watched the edited-for-TV version of My Big Fat Greek Wedding loop throughout the entire weekend. Then again, you do deserve a bit of punishment for not showing up. We'll keep it short and sweet so you can have more time to eye-hump the pictures.
We and our people got to sit in the sun and work on our farmer tans and watch 22 hot girls prance around in the NGK Bikini Contest. One of them was the ultra-sexy Mercedes Terell from the Toyo booth, who also ended up being the winner the second day, taking home the cash prize of $1,000. With so many tittays (not man) around, it's almost too easy to forget about the car show put on by Ken Miyoshi's Mainstream Productions. Crews like Voodoo Racing and KR Motorsports represented with over a dozen cars each. With all the trophies, plaques, and cash prizes you'd think you were at an NHRA event back when they were cool. We even had a free dyno challenge for those who live off bragging rights.
Of course, the weekend wouldn't have been complete without a party so Shrek and company booked us a VIP room at Club Chaos on the main strip. The drinks were flowing and theladies were topless. Remind us never to have daughters.
How can we further rub your face in thedirt? Let's see, NX was promoting their S15Silvia giveaway car, NGK's Nichole was smoking hot, NOS had free energydrinks, Nadsy'sstalkee Leanne Tweeden from SpikeTV and Big C from G4 were on the grounds filming, tons offree swag was thrown off the HD Wheels rig, and you missed a chance to celebrate Super Street's 10-year anniversary with us. So, in short, you missed out big time. Better gear up, cuz next year's Bash is just around the corner.
