Thought drag racing was dead? Think again bitches! While it may not be as mainstream as it used to be, there are still as many quarter-mile enthusiasts as ever who live and breathe for those 10-seconds or less. And there’s no better racing series today that brings a high level of competition than Import Face-Off.
This year marks IFO’s 11th anniversary. We have to admit, it’s been years since we checked out one of their events so we decided to take the four-hour road trip from LA to Vegas and see what it was all about—it was also a good excuse to spend a weekend in Sin City. So after stumbling out of the Crazy Horse strip club at 9AM (totally joking by the way), we headed to the speedway for IFO’s 211th event.
Upon arriving, we were surprised to see how crackin’ the venue was. There was a full-on car show, plus tons of speed-hungry drivers ready to throw down on the track. According to director Cliff Wallace, the Vegas event saw a record number of front-wheel drive competitors at 52 cars. This isn’t just a record for IFO but also drag racing series across the nation. As you can imagine, our eyes were glued to the track all day as we witnessed Honda after Honda run 9s and 10s down the strip. We tip our hats to Import Face-Off and all the racers and fans for supporting a motorsport that many people thought was fading away. The Las Vegas event is proof that drag racing is far from dying and if you don’t believe us, IFO has over 40 events planned every year across the nation. Bring it!
