Check It OutCar CompetitionNearly all of the cars in the display areas around the show will by vying for a trophy in one of the following categories: Full Customs, Dressed-Up Cars, Tuned Cars, and Minivans/Wagons/SUVs. In addition, there will be specialty awards for Hottest Display, Paint, Engine, and more. All together, 32 trophies will be presented. Do You Work in the Industry?If you work in the automotive industry-be it as a counterman at Pep Boys, a mechanic at a tuner shop, a warehouseman at a manufacturer, or an owner of a company-you are eligible to attend the SEMA International Auto Salon as a "trade attendee."
Trade attendees can preregister online on or before April 5 at www.ias2k2.com for $10. After April 5, trade attendees must register on-site at the show, and registration will be $15. A trade-attendee badge will admit you to the show all three days, including Friday, April 19. On Friday, the show is only open to trade attendees, not the general public. Friday show hours are 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
To pick up your trade-attendee badge you will be required to present personal identification, such as a driver's license, and professional identification, such as a personalized business card or a current paycheck stub.
Friday will also include three trade-only seminars: "Get the Facts: Turbo or Supercharge Your Import Performance Vehicle" with Oscar Jackson of Jackson Racing, "Got Game? How to Work Your Branding Into Video Games" with Ivo Gescovich and Lindsey Fischer from Fox Interactive (both scheduled for 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.), and "How to Break Into and Profit From the Import Performance Market" with NOPI's Michael Meyers (scheduled for 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.).
