Spring Break Tuner Bash Was Off The Hizook, The Chain, The Leash, And Yes, Even The Hinges
John, Dan, Ricky, and Jimmy went to the Spring Break Tuner Bash and all Jonny got was this lousy T-shirt. (I didn't get a shirt!-RC) What were you thinking JDM-boy? Jonny missed out on the chance to spend three sun-soaked days in Daytona Beach, Florida, the beauteous little berg that puts the "prring" in spring break! Woohoo!
Jonny stayed home and rode bikes with his friends because his robust man-boobs ended up on the box cover of the latest Girls Gone Wild video after a long day by the pool sipping on too many Shirley Temples. This year Jonny was too embarrassed to show his face at Daytona lest images of his chaste nubile body end up splattered all over the society pages again. Wait, this is Jonny we're talking about-forget about the beads, this guy will lift his shirt and drop trou' at the slightest provocation. If you don't believe us, just ask him at the next show or race he's at-but be careful what you wish for because it ain't pretty. Don't worry, though because Jonny's Buns of Steel videos just came in the mail.
The real reason Jonny wasn't at Daytona Beach this year was because Howard requested that he stay at home and ride bikes with his friends. Last year Jonny lost it while taking pictures at the bikini contest. It seems that the contestants were not too receptive of Jonny's attempt to tune in Tokyo with each of them. Damn Jonny, you really walked the duck with that one.
For the rest of us the 2002 Spring Break Tuner Bash was even more fun than a day of riding bikes with our friends. Just think about what the Tuner Bash had to offer: a two-day Import Showoff car show presented by Mazda; the Castrol Dyno Challenge; dB Drag Racing; Fishman's 48/hr Training Day; the Nitrous Express Bikini Contest; the Sony PlayStation2 Gaming Challenge. Not to mention some of the hottest performance and mobiletronics companies with the wildest cars and products on display. When the sun set, Pioneer presented a free concert by the Goo Goo Dolls on Friday night and XM Satellite Radio presented an exclusive DJ Set By Ken Jordan And Scott Kirkland, also known as The Crystal Method, on Saturday night.
As if it couldn't get any better than this, the Bash took place right in the epicenter of the Daytona Beach blast-the Plaza Resort and Spa. In addition to having the best location during spring break (right on the water) the Plaza is also home to Daytona's wildest nightclub, 600 north.
Read on to find out more about the Showoff, the concerts and Fishman's Training Day. And while Colin Timberlake, er Justin Mathews, er our newest FNG-the boy-band reject-didn't make it to the Bash, he does know something about this XM Satellite Radio deal and he shared his insights with us. Jimmy also entered his Radio Raheem boom box in the dB Drags and you can read his report. Right after that Jimmy was busted as he tried to enter his roller shoes in the Castrol Dyno Challenge. If you missed this year's party, you still have a choice for our third annual Tuner Bash-you can be like Jonny and stay home to ride bikes with your friends or you can join us for the biggest blowout on the beach. That's what we thought. Sorry Jonny. Spring break! Woohoo!
Mazda Presents The Showoff Car ShowMainstream Productions Expands to the East Coast for Some Partying
Mazda teamed up with Import Showoff, one of the biggest car shows in the industry, to throw a bomb-ass event at the Spring Break Tuner Bash. Mazda kicked down $2,000 in cash prizes and probably another few grand in noncash prizes. If you've been to 100 car shows, you still wouldn't have been able to capture the excitement of this one. Cars filled the lot to the brim, even more cars lined up around the pool area, and there were girls in bikinis. Why? You shouldn't even have to ask. Because it's spring break! Woohoo!
