Importdrag.Com Quick Class
History has provided us with some great rivalries: Ali vs. Frazier; Lakers vs. Celtics; Leno vs. Letterman. The IDRC's Quick Class is shaping up to produce another one for racing's annals-Callos vs. Mortensen. Ah yes, Bruce and Jojo seem to be the two names consistently atop the Quick Class qualifying ladder and more often than not they meet in the finals. At Englishtown, this proved true again. While Jojo was slightly off the pace in qualifying, Bruce put the Venom Civic on top of the board with an 8.83 @ 165, which is good enough for a new Quick Class e.t and mph record. IDRC points leader Saverio Leone grabbed the second slot with a 9.28 @ 155. But Jojo runs hard when it counts and he took out Leone to meet Bruce in the finals. Jojo was quicker off the line but that was about it as Bruce's Civic blasted by with an 8.93 while the Castrol Integra could do no better than a 10.48. Bruce took this battle in an ever-escalating war between these two camps but we're sure Jojo will strike back with a vengeance.
Falken Tires All-Motor Class
The Quick class may have two headliners but the All-Motor Class has been an all-Erick show-Erick Aguilar that is. The Erick's Racing Engines Civic has stood the All-Motor Class on its ear this season as the car continues to rewrite the record books as the quickest normally aspirated FWD car. Erick lowered his own record with a 10.59 @ 127 in qualifying. Scott Mohler continued to blow his own doors off with a fiberglass-flinging 10.80 @ 126 in his Neon to take the second spot. However, Mohler could not continue after qualifying, giving Aguilar an easy win in the finals against Jeremy Lally.
BFGoodrich Tires Street Class
The Street Tire Class was shaping up to be a battle of the Supras between Mark Mazurowski's Titan Motorsports entry and the Motorsports Performance JZA80 of Paul Efantis. However, Titan's Supra had mechanical problems and this allowed John Shepherd to put his Eagle Talon in the Number Two qualifying position with a 9.75 @ 144. Shepherd would make it all the way to the finals but he had his work cut out for him as he faced Efantis, who set a new Street Class e.t. record with his 9.28 @ 147 in qualifying. At the line Shepherd cut the best light of the weekend-a near-perfect 0.401. Efantis must have been waiting for an official invitation from the starter as he crawled out of the hole with a snail-like 1.050 r.t. Even though Paul recovered with a 9.280 blast, it wasn't enough to catch Jeff who clicked off a 9.711 which, combined with the r.t. advantage, delivered the Talon to the upset victory of the day.
