NOPI Race Wars at Silver Dollar Raceway - One More Chance

Life just isn't the same after joining Super Street. The drive to L.A. is horrendous, mainly because Poochie, my blow-up doll, exploded during the heat of passion and I can't use her as my carpool passenger anymore. I get the same VIP treatment as Coolio does when he goes in public-or lack thereof. I have to park my car in the same place Notorious B.I.G. was shot, and I swear I saw a 300lb ghost wearing a Coogi running suit floating next to my car. I had to suspend all my advanced-origami classes when we were about to learn how to create self-portraits with aluminum. And along with traveling, writing, staring at the wall, and listening to Jimmy make weird noises in the office adjacent to mine (Grrr...boogie-boogie.-JL), I just don't have the time to do the things I once enjoyed doing.

Fortunately, the staff here is extremely nice, and they make me feel right at home, with the exception of Jonny who continuously stares at me while licking his lips and incessantly asks me to go into his office to undergo my "initiation." He even insisted on going with me to Reynolds, Georgia, the home of the Silver Dollar Raceway and the site for the NOPI South East Race Wars. There, I finally saw Triple X's car from The Fast and the Furious, witnessed some impressive drag racing, and hob-nobbed with several industry giants.

Pro ImportThe Pro Import Class was thoroughly dominated by the twins (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen? Yum!-JN) from Bullish Motor Racing. The twin Solaras piloted by George Ioannou and Ara Arslanian consistently ran 7-second passes throughout the sweltering weekend. On Saturday, Ioannou set a new NDRA speed record at 7.15 @ 191.19. Both drivers are unquestionably knocking on the 6-second door and plan "to kick in the door, wavin' the four, four." In the Final Round Elimination, Ioannou won with an e.t. of 7.149 @ 187.99.
