As two of the tallest Asians to ever walk the state of Illinois, our fearless duo attacked McCormick Place for the third stop of the Hot Import Nights series.
While Chicago is normally only home to unusual hot dog toppings and homeless people who aren't afraid to let you know that when you're in the ghetto, you are, indeed, in the mothaf'in ghetto,it's starting to really shine when it comes to clean show cars. Hondas were outnumbered by rear- or all-wheel driven cars like the CorollaGT-S and S13 from Touge Factory, Ming Ng's '00 Impreza RS with a WRX engine swap, and even old school classics like the Toyota Corona. But even with the rising popularity of drift in the Windy City, we did notice a K-powered EK, plenty of mint S2Ks, and an EF hatchback with not one but two engines, which could be run simultaneously or on their own. The owner also told us that the conversion allowed the Civic to become an all-wheel drive and used a custom floorboard to suck heat from the trunk area and keep the passenger cabin cool. At the Valvoline Synpower rig, some of our closest friends had their cars on display, likeC-West's carbon S2000, the Tein widebody Si and the Chargespeed WRX.
Also, it should be noted that the best line touse when trying to enter a club to which youhave no juice and are adding pickles to an existing sausagefest but have a hot girl with you is to lie and say she's Miss HIN (Thank you, Jessica Barton! - Staff). Don't forget your 4am Slider snacks either.
The Valvoline Tuner 2006 Tour
Super Street, in conjunction junction with Valvoline, is lighting up the HIN function. Three lucky rides at select Hot Import Nights events will be paid a surprise visit and granted a case of free oil. The party patrol will be on the show floor handing out oil to cars according to the following criteria:
·Best Street Car will win a case of Valvoline's Conventional Motor Oil
·Best Old School Ride will win a case of Valvoline's MaxLife Synthetic Motor Oil
·Best Overall Ride will win a case of Valvoline's SynPower Full Synthetic Oil
So be on the lookout for the Valvoline rig at your local HIN and pester the staff for some lubricating loot. Even if you don't win anything, at least you'll get to peep the super fresh cars below'
