We tend to travel all over the world for some of the biggest events in our community. New Jersey for Wekfest East, Hawaii for SpoCom, Japan for Tokyo Auto Salon, etc. Though we’ll never stop making appearances at these major shows, we’d like to make an effort to showcase what the underground scene is doing, and what exactly is going on outside of California and the other major poppin’ cities. For starters, after years of growth and recognition, we thought it was only right to provide you with coverage from one of the biggest grassroots style events happening on the eastern half of the USA—Import Alliance.
For those of you living under a rock, this segment of shows was founded eight years ago in Nashville, TN and has been going strong ever since. With additional events in Georgia, Texas, North Carolina and now Kentucky, the gathering has proved to showcase some of the country’s unexposed finest. Don’t be mistaken, now. This is a home grown gathering—not a show—so yes, that means out of the massive parking lot of 3,000 cars, you’re probably pretty bound to see some boo boo projects. There are also no awards or judging. But have no fear! That’s the fun part! And sifting through the endless rows of cars is certainly a part of the experience. You never know when you’ll turn a corner and find one of the hidden gems of the show, or even your newest inspiration. If you’re not one for extensive foot travel, simply post up around the “vendor village” where you’ll be guaranteed to find some of the most prized possessions as well as the region’s most recognized brands and distributors.
With variety as far as the eye can see and a crowd the size of a 2 Chainz concert, Import Alliance will continue to expand while providing a breeding ground for enthusiasts of all backgrounds.
