Ah spring… After months of freezing temperatures, constant rain and, of course, several weeks of snowfall, we have this wonderful season to greet us with sunshine, rainbows and more importantly, girls wearing fewer clothes. And while we’re a bit spoiled year-round with beautiful weather in California, for the East Coast, spring is their opportunity to bring their rides out of hibernation and hit the first shows and get-togethers of the year. This year’s Springfest 5 in Virginia Beach marked its fifth annual event drawing cars from as far as Florida, New York, Texas, Minnesota and further.
It’s truly becoming the first big show on the East that enthusiasts wait all winter for. Held for the first time at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, over 1000 cars entered into this year’s event with approximately 5,000 spectators walking around the half outdoor, half indoor showcase. A new “show” format meant 30 trophies were handed out to those entered into the car show.
So many cars wanted to show that organizers from Sumo Speed had to shut down Springfest 5 registration early due to the venue’s capacity. Besides the display cars, plenty of venders were on hand as well as live DJ music and a mobile dyno. The clear and sunny weather also lent itself to the strong turnout.
While many of the cars displayed at Springfest 5 can be seen here be sure to still pick up the next issue of Super Street for an in-depth look at our favorite rides of the show!
