The Beams Racing Mügen Type R was destined for the Japanese Tokachi 24-hour enduro race held on July 21-22, 2001 where it smashed its rivals by finishing 1st and 2nd. After proving its mettle, Mügen pushed forward with development of a complete line of race and street parts for 2002 based on the Beams designs.
While we were in Japan we spotted the new cold-air box, cooling system kit (thermostat and radiator cap) and sports exhaust system for street rides. Most of the parts were in the highly experimental stage having been freshly gleaned from the racecar, but some prototypes looked ready to go.
Mügen didn't stop at stealing engine parts from their racecar, they are considering bringing every part from the car into production. We saw the circuit roll cage, strut-tower bars, MF10 Aluminum wheels, and even the fuel cell with dangling price tags. OK, so they say "For Race Use" on them, but whose going to know your rear spoiler and Aero Bonnet are from the Mügen race car? We won't tell.
