More On G-Tour
What are you doing on Saturday, July 15? Wait, wait, don't tell us. We've already got the answer: You're going on the G-Tour. The G-Tour is a 100-percent-free one-day (around four-hour driving time) road trip scheduled to converge on Providence, Rhode Island, the home base of the Gravity Games, the coolest absolutely free eight-day interactive sports event in the Northeast. The G-Tour will happen on Saturday, July 15, with one leg starting from Boston Acoustics in Peabody, Massachusetts, and the other coming from Tweeter, Etc. in Milford, Connecticut.
Thanks to the G-Tour's title sponsors, Boston Acoustics and Panasonic, as well as our other sponsors like Meguiar's and BFGoodrich, the G-Tour is absolutely free to you. What's more, the first 400 G-Tour participants will get T-shirts as well as a bunch of other cool promo stuff from our sponsors. And you'll get to meet and chat with staffers from both Super Street and Max Power magazines.
With more than 250,000 spectators, the Gravity Games pretty much takes over the town of Providence from Saturday, July 15 to Sunday, July 23, and once our G-Tour pulls into town (just in time for the Street Luge qualifying rounds), we'll have a special section blocked off for 400 G-Tour participants to park, where we'll be having a show-n-shine on Saturday. At the show-n-shine BFGoodrich will be giving an award for the Best Ride on BFG Tires, too. And since the G-Tour area is situated in the heart of the Gravity Games, you'll also be that much closer to the sporting action for the first day of festivities. That means you'll be within easy walking distance to all the sports spectacles, as well as the Interactive Village, where you can put that bike, skateboard, or inline skates in your back seat to good use at the skate/vert park, dirt track for bikes and mountain bikes, and other crazy obstacles set up expressly for festival spectators to crank on. There will also be challenges like a climbing wall and obstacle course for you to take advantage of. There's also a chance to be on TV, since NBC televises the Gravity Games.
For more info on the G-Tour, go to www.nira.com, look for flyers that will be at local area shops, or email your request for info to sstreet@emapusa.com. Hotel info, car show prizes, and stop information will be available. For more about the Gravity Games, check out www.gravitygames.com. See you in July!
Signal Auto In The States
Within a year's time, this little beast has become one of the most famous Civics in the world. The Signal Auto chop-top Civic has broken the 9-second barrier and is poised to do more damage this year. But that's not all Signal has coming down the pipeline. In addition to a brand-new R34 Skyline GTR V-Spec and a chop-top all-motor Civic hatch, the company is setting up shop in the States. It will handle everything from tuning your turbo to fashioning custom body work. For more information, contact Signal, 310/787-0505, www.signalauto.co.jp.
Rado Signs With Penske
Speaking of big moves, Pennsylvania racer Christian Rado and World Racing has just signed on with Penske Racing Shocks for a full product sponsorship. This is the same sort of deal Penske has worked out with its race teams in NASCAR, Pro Stock, and the IRL.
"This is definitely big news for the industry," says World Racing Team Manager Eric Kozuleh. "And it will be interesting to see how this will affect the 2000 NIRA season, at which Christian will be campaigning his completely redone World Electronics-, RPS Performance Products-, Turbonetics-, and now Penske-sponsored '95 Integra."
With one win already under his belts (at press time), Kozuleh's expectations seem to be on target.
