Everyone knows that New Orleans is the home of jazz music, Bourbon Street, and girls flashing their assets for beads. Imagine flying in for a car show (Or imagine being in a flying car.-JW) held in the city at the same time as Jazz Fest, one of two biggest events for the state of Louisiana. I figured that if the car show fell through for whatever reason, I could fall into the decadence of the local festivities. Drunken stupor, woo-hoo! (But you don't drink.-RC) Luckily, the show turned out very good considering the fact that this was the first Hot Import Nights show to be held in that area. The attendance was lower than other locations due to the newness of the event and the country's biggest jazz festival happening at the same time, but cars came from all over including the far reaches of Texas and Florida to join in the festivities and the next time the show is held here I'm sure it will be tremendous.
The Louisiana Superdome is absolutely huge. It has been said that the Houston Astrodome could fit inside without a problem. The number of cars that showed up and the size of the venue allowed for a lot of walking room-or rolling room, for those inclined to have wheels on their sneaks-without being too empty looking. The DJs were spinning rave and hip hop tunes and people were breakdancing like they were possessed by the voodoo queen herself. Even I got into it a little after years of hanging up my Adidas suit and shell-toes. And then there was Bourbon Street-no more needs to be said other than I gave away my share of beads that night...to myself.
