It has been my experience that most Angelenos are way too lazy to get up for an import car show on a Sunday morning. I notice silly things like this because these people tell me so. They complain that it distracts them from their beauty sleep, when in fact their lazy asses should just suck it up and roll out of bed so they can work. The work I'm talking about this time refers to the Import Showoff's Nisei car show. Thrown in the Little Tokyo district of L.A., this show is held during Nisei Week, a yearly festival that celebrates Japanese culture started by second-generation (Nisei) Japanese Americans during the Second World War to boost the local economy and to promote community cooperation among the generations during that particular era. Nisei Week incorporates an arrangement of festivals, cultural exhibits, a parade, and our favorite excuse to get out of the office-the Nisei Queen Pageant. For the past three years, Import Showoff has been there to have local import car enthusiasts come and show off their (p)ride and joy. We, on the other hand, needed a reason to follow beautiful women around while in a drunken stupor, blaming our immature behavior on the lack of tofu in our diets.
