While Marty made it to the finals, Jojo didn't fare as well. He strapped Bruce at the lights but his 9.209 @ 155.69mph wasn't even close as the Venom Civic ran a solid 8.849 @ 164.05mph. In the finals between the Sunfire and the Civic, Bruce's 0.563 reaction was just barely better than Marty's 0.579. The two ran door-to-door all the way to the end and when the dust settled, Bruce's 9.116 @ 154.74mph won over Marty's 9.118 @ 155.47mph in what was the best final round of the event. Had Jojo won the event, he would have clinched the championship. With the Venom win, the last two races are of critical importance.Street Tire

Since Mark Mazurowski already clinched the Street Tire class championship, his Titan Motorsports Supra was not in attendance at Sonoma. The only two cars competing were Robert Dito's Eclipse and Paul Coggeshall's Civic with the victory going to the Civic. During practice, the red WRX from Easy Street Motorsports clicked off a couple of mid 10s, making it the world's fastest street tire WRX. The Easy Street car was running a set of BFGs and the sticky-icky rubber proved to be too much for the Sube's driveline. In the finals, Paul's Honda took the win.

All MotorJesus Padilla already had the All Motor championship on lock-down at Woodburn, but that didn't stop him from grabbing his sixth Wally of the season at Sonoma. On his way to the champagne spray, Jesus bettered his own NHRA record to a 10.256 with his three-rotor RX-7. In an all air-cooled VW semi-final, Scott Kelley had to get by his dad, Larry, while Jesus met fellow Wankel fan Ken Scheepers in his second-gen RX-7. In the finals, even Scott's substantial holeshot wasn't enough as Jesus merely drove around him for the win.

If Paisley's racing career ends, at least he can make it as a top-shelf caterer.
