Step By Step
1_Classification
At roll-in, your car will be classified by the NCCA either as a two-door or a four-door and either mild, wild or extreme. Your car's classification will be determined by the number of exterior and interior modifications you have done. This classification determines who your vehicle will be competing against in Class Competition. The judges will also note the make of your car which will enter you in the Vehicle Make Competition.
2_Registration
All car roll-in information is on our site at www.hotimportnights.com/showinfo. Registration check-in will be begin at 3 p.m. on the Friday prior to the show at the staging area. Look for signs that will direct you to this staging area. While in line you'll receive your modification card and be asked to pull up to the registration checkpoint. Once you hand in your completed modification card to the attendant, he or she will enter your information into the database (make and model) and give you a vehicle registration number. This number will go on your modification card and be used by the judges when they mark their score sheets. Your modification card must be clearly displayed on the driver-side window. There is NO Saturday (day of show) roll-in. No exceptions will be made. Please check the HIN Web site for any changes PRIOR to leaving for the event!
3_Spotting
Now that you're registered, you are ready to be placed (or spotted) in the show. Follow the HIN Staff as they direct you to your assigned spot. Once your car is spotted, you must turn off your engine, secure your vehicle and disarm your alarm system (this is a must). If your alarm is not disarmed, you may be disqualified from competition.
4_Regulations
Once your vehicle has been placed in the show, you have to disconnect your battery. You must either have a locking gas cap (and must be locked), or tape off your gasoline inlet. Since HIN is an indoor event, gas in the tank MUST BE one-eighth of a tank or below. No exceptions (fire marshal law). All hoods must be popped by Saturday at 3 p.m. for inspection of battery disconnections by the fire marshall.
5_Judging
The judges have the option to review your list of car modifications. Some judges review the mod sheet while others judge based on what they see. Once your vehicle has been judged, your scoring sheet will be entered into a computerized tally system. This will automatically tell us who the winners are by the number, showing no favoritism. It's all in the numbers. You don't have to be by your car for it to be judged. However, the judges need access to the area of your vehicle that you would like to be judged.
6_Awards
There will be an awards ceremony on the main stage at 11 p.m. Make sure you are there to collect your trophy. You will be asked to present a photo ID to receive your award.
Good Luck!
The National Custom Car Association (NCCA) is here to take the car show competition to the next level. They have created and instituted a rule book that is the standard for all sanctioned events. They have the first certified judging staff to go through the rigorous NCCA training program. By an NCCA member attending a sanctioned event, placing will convert into points which will be recorded as the season progresses. At the end of the year the progressive purse grows, allowing competitors to qualify for bonus awards at the end of the season. This is where various national titles will be awarded along with a fair division of the progressive purse. In 2004 the challenge will be for those national champions who can maintain their titles against the up and coming breed of new custom cars joining the scene.
