We can almost bet that you're one of the few million who have seen Ken Block do his thing, while whipping a Subaru STI around viciously in viral videos that have now made him an automotive superstar (in addition to his already immensely popular life as an extreme sports athlete); we know we're on that list, too. So it should be no surprise to see that the popular Gymkhana series on YouTube finally inspired a real-life event of its own, set on a stage that's played home to a sport familiar to all of us - the Toyota Speedway - or as we know it by its other name, the House of Drift.

This event, dubbed Gymkhana GRID, is far from a drift event, though it drew in lots of drifters as this style of competition uses drifting techniques and elements (we recommend you reading up on Wikipedia's definition of gymkhana if you're unsure of what it is). From pro drifters, such as Dai Yoshihara, Joon Maeng, Vaughn Gittin Jr. and even drifter/rally driver, Tanner Foust (plus a whole lot more than we can name), the big names were out alongside Ken Block himself so they could put on a great showing for fans who were there to witness a gymkhana event of this size for the first time, especially at such a venue. Tanner wound up taking the win, just barely beating Ken in the finals by two seconds, but Dai wound up winning the RWD category and Stephan Verdier in the AWD class. Stand by as Gymkhana GRID gears up for its 2011 season.
