Sema Show Las Vegas Convention Center Cover

You readers out there may not understand much about the SEMA Show, especially if you’ve never been or will never have the means to get out to one— but understand this: it is a test of many sorts. It pushes you physically, mentally and in many cases, breaks people before the week is even over. For anyone who doesn’t know what the SEMA Show is, it’s a four-day gathering in Las Vegas, thrown by the SEMA organization (Specialty Equipment Marketing Association), to showcase the aftermarket auto industry in all its glory, and nearly anything you can think of, from performance bolt-ons to wheels and so, so much more can be found there—and they don’t discriminate. Import or domestic, there is something for you there and it’s the first place you’ll see many new products coming to light. Of course, for us, this is our biggest event of the year, and we hit it full force in order to show you what’s going to be hot in the future and what’s currently rocking trends. After long days of walking and scouting, followed by endless nights of party rocking, this is what we have to report on. May our feet, brain cells and livers recuperate quickly…

  • Sema Show Las Vegas Convention Center Scion
Every year Scion has one of the most interesting booths at SEMA, largely due to their annual Tuner Challenge. This year was no different, and with the launch of the new iQ model, this was perhaps the most fascinating challenge yet. Jon Sibal took home top honors as his iQRX concept mixed both street and show elements together with Veilside aero, MVDesignz metallic grey paint, Air Runner suspension and HRE wheels.

  • Sema Show Las Vegas Convention Center Iq
Evasive Motorsports’ more race-prepped EVS IQ-RS concept came in second, but was also very impressive as it was customized with extensive body work and functional power adders to help tie it in with the rest of their racing fleet. Third place went to Tatsunori Tsuchida’s iQ MR, which, if you can guess, saw the most radical engine transformation as this car was converted from FF to MR with a fully-built motor. Major props to all the competitors for “raising the iQ” in this challenge!

This year Honda’s racing division HPD also decided to expand their parts division to not only include bolt-on goodies like the ones you see here, but also a body-in-white program where you can pick up a new bare shell (like the one the parts are mocked up on) for racing. We’ll take two, no, make that four.
