Toyota FT-1 Concept V2 Details:
- Revised concept highlighted at Monterey Car Week, last week
- New graphite exterior color to better showcase body
- Revised interior with natural saddle-colored leather seats and more
- Latest FT-1 and Vision GT Racecar released for Gran Turismo 6
Following the original concept debut at the Detroit Auto Show, a second Toyota FT-1 concept was revealed last week at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. This latest concept features a new exterior paint color and a revised interior, though at this point the Toyota FT-1 Concept still remains nothing more than a design study.
Additionally, two Toyota FT-1 Concepts have been revealed for Gran Turismo 6: the new FT-1 concept and the FT-1 Vision GT racecar.
Where the original Toyota FT-1 Concept featured bright red paint, the new concept features a "sophisticated" Graphite exterior color. Though the new Toyota FT-1 Concept retains much of the original concept's design, the automaker says the new paint enhances the sports coupe's dramatic styling and deeply sculpted body.
Inside, the original FT-1 concept's sporty black interior, red trim and metal accents have been replaced with an upscale interior with natural saddle-colored leather seats and door inserts with brown trim. Special attention was paid to the thickness, grain size, and texture of the natural leather used. The designers also used raised metal mesh for seat ventilation that matches with the metal interior accents. The leather used on the instrument panel features a textured embossed pattern, while the brown trim was inspired by high-end leather bags. The interior retains its driver centric styling with a cockpit-like feel.
In addition to the tangible concept, the automaker has also announced two Toyota FT-1 Concepts for Gran Turismo 6 for PlayStation 3. The first is a digital version of the new Graphite colored FT-1 concept, while the other is a digital-only FT-1 Vision GT Concept racecar.
