By name alone, the words "hottie" and "sexy" are conjured up inside your demented little mind because I know it did for me. But when you see her, I guarantee the majority of the readers will go see more drag races just to watch her in person. For starters, she's hot, drives a fast car, and knows more about the inner workings of an engine than the entire staff of Super Street combined.
Hailing from a small town in Texas and now living in New York City, Brittany is a future superstar of drag racing. This year, she piloted a Chevy Cobalt Phase5 and raced in both the NHRA and NDRA drag racing series, more specifically in the NOPI Chic All Girl class, battling it out with other racing babes like Loan Nguyen and Anna Comingore. Her Phase5 is one of two that Chevy sponsored, building into GM Racing's long-term tuner strategy. GM chose Brittany because of her extensive experience in drag racing, beginning with her Honda CRX, and the fact that she's a proven winner, evidenced by her win earlier this spring at the Virginia Motorsports Park, giving the Phase5 its first-ever victory. She won with a 12.664 e.t. at 104.62 mph, a feat her main sponsor GM is proud of because it plans on having more Chevy Cobalt Phase5s on the track for the 2006 season.
Brittany's Phase5 can manage mid to low 12-second runs on any given weekend. Powered by a 2.2-liter Ecotec motor, this Chevy Cobalt sports 535 horses ready to trample across the quarter mile. Each and every horsepower is owed to the extensive work GM and Kindle Racing did under the hood, from block to exhaust. The camshafts, intake manifold, cam gears, and shafts are all from the GM Performance Parts lab, while the Eagle rods, Wiseco pistons, and Ferrea valves work overtime to make sure each run goes smoothly. In the fuel department, Brittany used RC Engineering fuel injectors, a Weldon fuel pump, and a modified fuel rail, making sure gas reaches the chambers swiftly and efficiently. However, the rather large GT-35 turbocharger-the latest in turbocharging technology, known for having the flow potential perfect for a high-horsepower ride like the Phase5-is the star of the engine bay. Working with a Turbonetics Godzilla blow-off valve, Innovative wastegate, and Spearco intercooler, the GT-35 headlines the Cobalt Phase5 show.
Taking control of this entire setup, managing the power from crank to the ground, is a Hydra-matic 4T65 transmission, which is capable of harnessing up to 1,200 horsepower. The tranny makes sure the gears are on point when Brittany swiftly switches them down the track. The all-important traction duties are assigned to a set of sticky Mickey Thompson tires, wrapped around four lightweight Motegi wheels, 15x8 in the front and 15x4 in the rear. Also helping with the traction and equalizing the load is a Ground Control coilover kit, featuring quality KYB adjustable shocks.
Inside the cockpit, Brittany is coddled by drag racing technology. From the comfy Recaro seats to the fabricated 6-point rollcage to the Sparco steering wheel, she is always within reach of powering the Cobalt monster down 1,320 feet of racing glory. In fact, her Cobalt still has a fully functional production audio system, which she uses to listen to CDs on every run.
