Better Have My Money

Why should you invest in stocks? So you too can build an 800hp Toyota Supra for $100,000.

George W. Bush helped build this car, believe it or not. Not to say he picked up a wrench and set up the suspension package--more like he financed it in a six-degrees-of-separation kind of way. Let's look back to the start of 2005, when the Iraq War was heating up, America's economy was in a pivotal state, and the precarious stock market was fluctuating wildly. Richard T. Carino II was in the middle of the mayhem. He had thousands invested in flourishing stocks and bonds, and feared he'd lose it all amid the chaos happening here and abroad. So he pulled out all his funds, wiped his brow in relief, and placed it all in a bank--for the time being, at least.

Richard is a car buff, restoring American classics back to their full potential and touring the car show scene with his fleet of vehicles, including a '57 Ford Thunderbird and a '59 Pontiac Tempest. He was a full-fledged gear head, a poster boy for American muscle cars, and an enthusiast who knew nothing of the Japanese tuning scene--that is, of course, until the latest round of global instability.
