There are two types of people in this world. There are males and females, which I just recently re-learned after watching an episode of "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila." I sometimes forget that there are people out there without penises after several years of not touching someone of the opposite sex. There are idiots and absolute 'tards. This is another one I learned after watching a show where male and female whores vie for the affections of a Vietnamese midget who looks like a Martian crackbaby with big Bahama-mamas. There are PC and Mac people. The latter, of course, are those who sip Venti Macchiatos while preaching about the end of the prison industrial complex before buying a bag of Gold Medal flour, snorting it up their noses, and implicating their dealer during an FBI bust. Last, there are the do-it-yourself and the do-it-yourself-with-help-from-others-so-you're- not-really-doing-it-yourself (DIYWHFOSYNRDIY, for short). The latter are those like Kanye West with his autotune microphone, weight losers who use colon cleansers, and of course, tuners who don't know the difference between a Philips and a slotted screwdriver, but own the hottest whips at Hot Import Nights. You know who you are, DIYWHFOSYNRDIY'ers.
People who fall in the do-it-yourself category are someone like me, an avid masturbator, who doesn't let anyone but himself do his weng weng, and our sexy S13 feature of the month owner, Jason Lusier from Summit, Washington. His '89 Nissan 240SX has the sickest paint job since Daniel LaRusso painted Mr. Miyagi's fence. And like Daniel-san, Jason did it himself, a "do-it-yourself'r," if you will. They should really shorten that phrase up, by the way. Something like the "yourself'rs" or the "do-it'rs." Either way, Jason is an automotive painter by trade, so it's really not a surprise that he spent an ungodly amount of time painting his Silvia. I'm not talking about just the exterior, either, but we'll talk about that later. You see, it isn't the end of story when I say that his S13 is coated in Sherwin Williams '01 Nissan CV4 sandrift beige paint, with a Sherwin Williams darker two-tone to match the JDM lower color. Jason made sure the foundation was perfect before applying any of the glimmer that you see. Jason explained it like this: "I restored the entire car using a Sherwin Williams ultra system PE990 etch primer, P30A spectra prime, S56 ultra-fill II sealer, ultra 7000 base coat, and ultra 7000 CC950 ultra-flex clear." He might as well have spoken Hmong. What's clear, though, and doesn't need explanation is that he takes his paint seriously. Serious as a heart attack (zing!).
But like I said, the story doesn't end there. "Every nut and bolt throughout the entire car has been replaced to refurbish the gold cad plating," says Jason, "I also painted all the engine parts, some of which were powdercoated 20 percent black. The steering pump and alternator were powdercoated sparkle silver. Lastly, all the suspension parts were also painted with a BMW/Cosmos black and Nissan CV4, while the coilovers were re-anodized in hard black." If I had to guess what Jason's childhood was like, it probably consisted of a lot of spankings because he was the kid who didn't eat his Crayons but rather used them to write on walls, dad's ties and restaurant tables. The amazing part is that we've just managed to talk about the paint.
