The rest of the mods rounding out the newly improved RR could be viewed as lavish. I'm not gonna lie, Mugen probably made some of these parts simply because they're Mugen and quite frankly... they can. Parts like the Recaro based carbon RR seats, for example, make me green with envy. The yellow tachometer is another killer touch that makes me cringe with jealousy. But to top off my "god damn I wish I owned that" list would have to be the undeniably gangster gold monoblock 4 piston calipers and 340mm rotors. Will any of these parts ever go into production? Don't hold your breath, but if they do, you better believe I'll have them in my Civic first!
When all was said and done Mugen came up with a car so good that it improved the lap times of the former version by almost another two seconds. It's our understanding that even Mugen was thoroughly impressed by the outcome of the vehicle - both with its visual appeal and staggering performance. So much so that they actually designed a keepsake that was inspired by the vehicle, this way everyone can own a piece. It's a watch called the "Time Machine RR" and it houses a smorgasbord of features including, of course, carbon-fiber.
By now I'm sure most of you still reading this are drooling and making "vroom-vroom" noises while dreaming of someday owning your very own JDM Type R to be decked out in Mugen attire. Unfortunately it's just not in the cards for those of us stateside. However, Mugen has been taking in a lot of information based upon its US fans and is working to expand the US product line, starting with the new body style Fit (which we will be bringing you shortly). But until then, we'll all have to settle for a hyphy wristwatch.
