Maple trees, Niagara Falls, and a large open countryside are some pictures you may envision when you hear about a place called Canada. The open roads are usually quiet, leaving a feeling that there is nothing surrounding the country other than wilderness. Yet, on some nights, a strange whistle disturbs that peace. That whistle comes from Jeremy Bagayawa's passion-a '99 Honda Civic SiR. By the looks of it, this street machine is probably something you'd see traveling the urban jungle we call Los Angeles rather than in The Great White North. Judging from the vehicle's exterior, you can tell that this is not the average SiR. It's subtle and clean, and every piece complements the vehicle. A Tsunami front valence adds character to the car, and the side skirts and rear bumper from Xenon help bring the rest of the body closer to the ground. Wrapping up the whole package is a Wings West tunnel wing.
Rolling stock is taken care of by 15-inch Volk Racing TE-37 wheels in a beautiful shade of gunmetal that are wrapped in a set of Yokohama AVS Intermediate rubber. Ground Control coilovers bring the center of gravity down to a reasonable level to increase cornering stability. If you look closely behind the wheels, you'll find a complete set of Power Slot rotors, which are a necessity for stopping this beast.
The factory 160hp engine may be enough for the everyday driver, but for a car built with this kind of styling, more power is always necessary to cruise those open roads. Jeremy turned to Jackson Racing for its famous supercharger. And to help it flow better, an AEM cold air intake was installed. The expulsion of exhaust gases is increased by a DC Sports ceramic-coated header. A Tanabe Hyper medallion exhaust adds a light rumble as it finishes the airflow equation.
With this kind of air and fuel increase, the combustion chamber needed a stouter spark. This was accomplished by adding Vitek spark plug wires, which are connected to a set of NGK plugs. Finishing up the engine bay is a complete set of STR engine dress-up attire and a genuine Integra Type R strut bar.
Of course, a car of this caliber cannot be complete without some attention to the passenger compartment. That's why he added Sparco Supersports seats to increase comfort and safety. A Honda S2000 shift knob and MOMO tuner pedal set help put Jeremy in tune with the controls behind the wheel. A quick glance at the gauge cluster reveals all the engine monitoring devices, including the Jackson Racing boost gauge and Auto Meter air/fuel monitor located within the Auto Meter bezel. A brushed aluminum dash kit also adds a little bit of spice to the interior. Factory Auto Sound in Windsor, Ontario, is responsible for finishing up the interior with a full rolling entertainment system. Sounds bump out of an Alpine CVA-1005 head unit complete with LCD screen. Alpine amps route the sound frequencies to MB Quart separates, while bass is handled by the three 10-inch JL Audio subwoofers housed in a custom trunk enclosure. In addition, an Optima Blue deep cycle battery provides an extra 12-volts of power on the side. An Alpine six-disc changer, a Panasonic DVD player, and Sega Dreamcast ensure that the passenger will never be bored while Jeremy is piloting the car.
In the short year it took to create this beast, Jeremy put his own style into this SiR. It wasn't easy though. Although he faced problems that come with building a car, his friends and girlfriend were there to help and support him through it all.
