Eclipsing SoundThe days of overdone car stereo systems appear to be at an end. About five years ago, stereo lovers would stuff as many speakers and amplifiers as they could into their vehicles. Maybe it's just that the technology has advanced so far that we don't need as many amplifiers and speakers to achieve the same sound as in the past. Or, it could be that space and weight has become an issue in today's performance vehicles. Robert Wilson offers another example of a clean car stereo system without going too extreme. The heart of his scheme is a Clarion head unit and Clarion CD changer. Signals are arranged by a Clarion Sound Processor and sent to the Clarion amplifiers via Monster Cable. From the amplifiers sounds travel to a complete set of Boston Acoustics Speakers, again via Monster Cable. This configuration creates a dynamic sounding environment that eclipses the factory sound and provides an enjoyable setting while cruising in this Mitsubishi.
