Mazda RX-7 - Unforgettably Pink

By Inspector Clouseau, Photography by Fly

But the car has more than looks. More than a few will be shocked to pop the hood-up front, thank you very much-and see 400 hp worth of Amemiya-tweaked 13B rotary, converted to a single GReddy turbo compressor and inter-cooler. The interior is a delicious mix of carbon fiber, red leather, and an attention to detail. Merely referring to the car's exterior hue as pink would be an understatement. This shade of pink pierces the optic nerve directly en route to causing a hiccup at the brainstem, and is Amemiya's signature color-all of his race cars have either been pink or had pink trim for years now.

Mechanically, our model is not as balls out as it could be. Five hundred horse is generally acknowledged as the limit on 1.3L, rotary-powered Mazdas, and this one is packing just under 400. Such a "moderate" power level from an Amemiya rotary could be deemed a prescription for street driveability, which means people were meant to experience this visual display. Power is nothing if you can't keep it running, and if you can't run then your reputation is sunk. Amemiya is too smart to fall into that trap.

The chassis's performance is further enhanced with Amemiya's signature spring and strut-brace package. This pink beast can count on the additional visual appeal of massive Alcon calipers peeking through the RE Amemiya 17-inch wheels. The styling overhaul visually divorces Amemiya's pink creation from its FD3S lineage while borrowing from other vehicle's styling to create something wholly unique, instantly unforgettable, and purely Amemiya.
