"White" Mike at Blitz North America boasted that the new LM (Last Modified) air cleaner will add an easy 10hp at the wheels and was willing to wager on it. Blitz's LM air cleaner uses a foam element, rather than the traditional IR SUS stainless steel mesh, to filter out nasty dirt and debris particles. Not being strong believers of major horsepower increases from air cleaners, we gladly accepted the challenge. As Mike installed the air cleaner, our nervous hands barely managed to snap some install shots for you loyal readers. Keep in mind that our bet involved no money, just something about running around naked at the next SEMA show. One more spin around the block with the LM air cleaner installed showed up as 209 hp on the Power Meter I-D. That's an 11hp increase since we added the exhaust. Ouch! Guess it's time for us to make an appointment at the tanning salon and get a personal trainer. Check out our install section to add a quick and easy 11 hp to your WRX.
You can only toy with a turbo car for so long until your body becomes numb to the feeling of stock turbo-provided power. We wanted more boost. Enter the new Blitz Dual SBC I-D electronic boost controller. The Power Meter I-D has found its soul mate. These two Blitz pieces go together like Kool-Aid and sugar, like peanut butter and jelly, like ham and burger. When linked via the infrared communication ports, these two babies trade info like girls trade gossip. The WRX can now interchange between the four preset boost channel settings in relation to vehicle speed. Crank the boost up to .85 BAR and what do you get? An underwear-soiling 225 hp put to the ground. All power that was lost in the stock car's drivetrain has now been gained back.
