All right, so there Ryan was with a stock Civic in his driveway two years ago, cash in hand, and mods on the mind. So where does he go? Straight to the chain store now selling "Neat Neon Seats for Generation Xers with Style in Mind"? Absolutely not. He goes to Japan. Well, via the Internet. And what does he do? He orders up only the most scandalously rare JDM parts he can find. Take, for example, the fantastic exterior pieces you can see, such as the truly Japanese side skirts and the rear bumper outfitted with a curiously curled lip. Or, squint your eyes and find the ones you have to scour the vehicle to see, like the power windows and door locks, or the white Vision mirrors. They're all there, thanks to the power of FedEx. Altogether, Ryan spent a good $5,000 just to make his Civic as JDM as he possibly could, which to a Super Street staff editor is like saying he spent a gazillion dollars, because we've never seen that much money before. On top of that, Ryan's got a strange obsession with old-school wheels, or as he calls it, his "passion." Perhaps that explains why he's got four different sets of wheels outfitted with four different sets of tires. They're like rolling mood rings that change spokes instead of colors. If he's feeling tense, he might go for the Speed Star Racing Super Fins. You know he's happy if the Ewing Works RS Deltas are in effect. The Ewing Works RS Betas? Bust out the Kleenex, because he's about to cry. And the LS36 Gales? You guessed it-horny. So watch those wheels, ladies. Actually, never mind. Ryan's married. Which, you know, is also like saying he's got a bazillion dollars, because we have no idea what that's like either.
Anyway, the point is that you should notice that Ryan didn't skimp on the JDM specs at all, from the climate control wedged into the custom dash to the center console, even down to the gauge cluster. It's borderline maniacal, but we're willing to forgive him because it looks so damn clean. In fact, it's so clean and so detailed that we're just going to sit here and stare at its classic lines until the effects of that mystery milkshake wear off. Yes, it's so soothing to just sit here and stare at it. Happy place. Happy.
