1993 Mazda RX-7 - 7 To Midnight

This RX-7 Is So Fast, Not Even Light Can Escape It

Photography by John P. Roper

Looking forward out of the cockpit doesn't produce much in the form of oohs and ahhs, but don't turn around if you want to retain your hairpiece. Crawling out of the depths of the rear hatch is a sound system that could knock your fillings loose. MTX woofers and amps swell in the rearview like a black volcano. A custom vinyl-covered fiberglass enclosure houses four 10-inch MTX subwoofers. A DVD player mounted low and center plays its signal to a 7-inch motorized LCD in the dash. If the power of the audio system isn't enough for you, and the raw power of the 1.3L turbo hasn't curled what little hair you have left, a pair of Nitrous Express bottles merely hints at the smackdown that's available at the push of a button. There's also a MOMO steering wheel and a GReddy shift knob to hold on to and keep you from falling into the black hole left behind when this car launches.

There isn't much that can escape the gravity-like pull of this car when you're in its seats. Between the power of the motor planting you back and the power of the tunes pushing you forward, it surprises us that the driver and passenger don't just implode.
