It's a great feeling to know that no matter where we travel, Super Street is welcomed with open arms; this past Tour was no exception. While we may not have broken any major attendance records or clogged highways like we did back in '01, we were finally able to step into an arena that we'd never taken on before-and I think we walked away victorious. For years, Midwestern readers have been sending in letters expressing their sincere hatred for us not giving them the time of day. But now that Chicago's become a second home for Carter and me, we figured we could take any sticks or stones they wanted to throw our way. Amazingly, taking the Tour to Chicago was a pleasant idea that was finally executed, but one question hit us the minute we arrived: where the hell were you?
While we were well taken care of by our friends and hosts at Origin USA, we wondered, what happened to the people who had written us? You mean to tell us that, out of the who-knows-how-many car enthusiasts there are in the Midwest, our small but dedicated group was all that showed? They have more teen spirit than you? That bummed us out. You missed out on the super limited $10 gas cards (we pocketed a lot of those by the way), our super high profile police escort out of Lexington (that made the 10 o'clock news) and you could've bought us breakfast at the Waffle House right after a long night at Chester's (that's where we played bingo until the wee hours of the morning). That's right, you dropped the ball. And we'd better not see any letters asking us why we aren't coming to Chicago anymore.
