Even though it's been only a year since the Toyota ZN6 (FR-S) and Subaru ZC6 (BRZ) platforms were released, events like 86Fest is a true testament to the impact each has made on the tuner industry. The old-school inspired sports car has put the dead tuner scene argument to bed. Hundreds of wild and mild Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ cars took over the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA for the annual 86Fest. The event has become North America's largest 86 gathering and wouldn't be possible without the efforts of Antonio Alvendia and the Motormavens staff.

Antonio Alvendia, founder of Motor Mavens says, "It took us about six months to plan 86FEST II. The first few months, we just planned out all of the things we could do to utilize our MotorMavens resources to create value and entice companies to sponsor 86FEST. After that, it took us months to contact everyone in our contact list about the event. Our list is HUGE. We also spent a ton of time going to meets, car shows and track days to promote the event - not to mention all our social media promotion! The hardest thing though, is raising the money required to produce an event of this magnitude."

Aside from the car exhibition, Club4AG founder Moto Miwa hosted an 86 Dynamic Driving Academy that taught basic track driving techniques. Vendors such as Greddy, 5 Axis and Apexi brought out its latest products for the FR-S and BRZ. M7's General Manager Robin kindly gave us an exhaust sound preview and told us its newest titanium exhaust is handmade. A raffle packed full of aftermarket goodies including coilovers, exhausts, headers, intakes, brake kits, and get this, a full set of HRE wheels rounded out the day.

Alvendia concluded, "If you measure the success of 86FEST in terms of fun factor for the attendees, creating exposure for our sponsors and vendors, and social media reach, then we can say 86FEST II was an epic win."

The show highlighted the Toyota Corolla, Scion FR-S, and Subaru BRZ and below you will find 10 that really stood out. In no specific order, here are the best cars at 86Fest II.

Blue Toyota Corolla

The AE86 Corolla is iconic but let's face it, the chassis is close to 30 years old now and finding one in good condition is like winning the Monopoly game at McDonalds. We loved this AE86's clean blue paint job and dank Work Meisters. Nothing completes an old-school car like fender flares.

ARK Performance Scion FR-S

Yes yes, it's an FR-S with a Rocket Bunny kit - it's not the only one on this list either. Even though the aero has been done time and time again we still love it! Especially this white one fitted with bronze TE37Vs. The TE37V wheel is like the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ: Something that's vintage-inspired with a modern touch.

Lux Motion Scion FR-S

Don't let the pink paint fool you. This widebody FR-S is packing a Full Blown turbo under its hood. The kit is made from Lux Motion, which looks dangerously close to the Rocket Bunny kit. Either way it still looks cool.

The man responsible for 86Fest would be a fraud if he didn't own an 86 himself. Fortunately, that's not the case. This red AE86 belongs to Antonio Alvendia and has to be one of the most pristine Corollas around. The paint is all original and the engine has been meticulously taken care of by Robby Caballes at RSpec Autoworks in Van Nuys, CA.

Blue Subaru BRZ

Sometimes simple and clean can be the right way to go. This doesn't have a widebody kit and it doesn't have excessive camber but it does have some sexy TE37RT wheels, a dope HKS Racing Suction Reloaded intake, and a few carbon-fiber accents. Well done!

FT86 Speed Factory Scion FR-S

This FR-S came all the way from Iowa to attend 86Fest II. Its forced induction power comes from a Vortech supercharger. They've swapped out the horrible OEM seats with a pair of red Sparcos too.

Red Toyota Corolla

Near the Turn 14 Distribution booth were two impeccable Zenki AE86s. Unlike many Corollas in the pursuit of all things JDM, these two proudly maintained USDM spec.

Toyota Corolla with Levin Front End Conversion

It's unfortunate that the Levin never made it stateside, but that didn't stop 86 enthusiasts from converting their front ends with the fixed headlights that Levins use. This specific one has ITBs installed to its 4AG motor. Fun fact, the word "Levin" means "lightning" in Old English.

Mackin Industries Scion FR-S

You can spot this Rocket Bunny kitted Scion FR-S from a mile away with its Porsche Mexico Blue paint and the bright orange Gram Lights wheels. In the interior you'll find a unique roll cage built by Evasive Motorsports and two Sparco race seats.

GarageFRS Scion FR-S

You had to have seen this one coming. Even though our mean green machine made its debut at SEMA last year, it's still one of the best looking Rocket Bunny equipped FR-S builds out there. That day many people stopped by the booth wondering what kind of paint was used. The answer to that would be a one-off British Racing green. Around all four corners we went with the three-piece, forged-aluminum BBS E88s. You can't go wrong with a set of BBS wheels. The front wheels are sized at 18x10" while the rear is 18x11.5". To beat underpowered engine complaints, we've enlisted the help of legendary tuners HKS with one of its GT Superchargers.
