Turbo V8 Nissan 240SX Cockpit Camera Captures Drift Lap

Chevy LQ9 with Turbonetics turbo powered S13 at Raceway Park, NJ

Drifting is often seen from the outside as a chaotic mess of rubber, smoke and bodywork vibrating out of place. From within the cabin, life is a bit more relaxed for a schooled slide artist even if the audio of an engine flirting with redline and melting tires says otherwise. To further illustrate this, we strapped a Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera at the passenger end of drifter Tanner Munson’s boosted and V8-powered Nissan 240SX during a lap around Raceway Park, NJ at the bi-annual Freedom Moves drift event.

Hailing from Burlington, VT, Munson showcased what his high-output Chevrolet LQ9 with Turbonetics turbo equipped S13 can do. It is clear he is a veteran both at the track and behind the wheel of his drift car best exemplified at the 50-second mark of the video. Notice his handbrake work.

For those interested in what the Freedom Moves event is, it occurs at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ each year. The atmosphere is laidback and grassroots with a serious focus on track time. This year brought out locals, amateurs, pros and spectators crazy about getting slideways.
