We Try
Let me start off by saying you guys are great. The cars, girls and event coverage are superb and make my boring nights more enjoyable. I'm just dropping in to to tell you I read my buddy's Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magazines and they don't compare with you at all. You guys put some comedy into your articles while they're straight up like someone shoved something up their...well you get the point. Long story short I love everything you guys shove into the magazine. I'm off to the store right now to get the next issue and I already know it's going to kick ass.

I'm currently deployed overseas but I still receive your mag every month and I love it. It keeps me busy and when things go wrong here, you're the only thing that makes me happy. I'm a real car lover, from ricers to American muscle and I never underestimate any car at all. I own a '67 Chevelle with a 383 stroker engine, a '94 Mazda RX-7 and now a S13 with an RB25DET swap that I will start as soon as I go home. I'm writing in regards to a letter in your July magazine from a reader out of Bear Lake, Michigan. First, he forgot that Super Street is not about V-8 engines or American muscle, but for domestic compact cars, so that means the Hemi 426 engine-although a hell of an engine-can not be considered on the Top 10 list. Second of all, he also compares the almighty, the most feared engine by all, the 13B-REW that in stock form can pull close to 200 hp per liter, to an Ecotec that can be lucky to pull 80 hp per liter. His comparison is not even fair since the engine that he talks about is from a highly modified Ecotec. We are talking about a stock engine with nothing done to it. Siguel Racing's 20B rotary engine puts out 1,500 hp from a two-liter. His Hemi engine, a 426 with, like 450 hp and 8 liter displacement only puts out an embarrassing 60 hp per liter, not to mention it weights half a ton. So, my friend in Michigan, that's why the 13B-REW was one of the Top 10 engines. I'll race my RX-7 any day against a Hemi-powered car, or an Ecotec for that matter. If he doesn't like rotaries then he should hide somewhere because usually when someone hates those little engines it's because they have been beaten by one. I think your list of the Top 10 was right on, even if the 20B rotary engine was missing since they are not very common. I like car lovers but I hate fanatics and haters. Fanatics come and go and even change their minds but lovers, are forever.

This Time It's Not Our Fault
Every time I check my mailbox and find your mag, it reminds me to cancel my subscription. I have been saying this for over a year now but I can't seem to do it. Not because your mag keeps me entertained for hours but because I'm too lazy. I was checking out the article on "Chill" in the August '06 issue and on page 128 there is a picture of a lady with man hands pouring redline water wetter into what appears to be the windshield washer fluid reservoir tank. I could be mistaken, but isn't the blue cap with the picture of a windshield and water squirting above it the coolant reservoir tank? Thanks for another reason to cancel my subscription (if i ever get to it!).

This is a mere optical illusion. Super Street ensures complete accuracy in every one of our stories. How dare you imply we fill the wiper fluid reservoir with water wetter. Unfortunately, we can't say the same for the power steering reservoir.

You've all read the same fan mail; you know you're amazing. But I've been a long-time fan of this 'zine since I was a seven-year-old girl who despised Barbie and played with Hot Wheels. After my brother stopped subscribing to your magazine, I lost touch with the luxurious world of glossy papers teeming with beautifully waxed idol cars prided by the most famous street racers and drifters. Then a male friend of mine in high school slipped me a copy and I've been re-addicted to the import scene since. Unfortunately, that issue was on borrowed time and I had to give it back to the stingy creep before I absorbed every ounce of knowledge you provide us with on a monthly basis. I've been on a mission for nearly two years trying to find that one particular issue of Super Street, and still haven't found it. My only memory of the issue was the cover car; a blue Skyline GTR with a wicked airbrushed paint job that encompassed almost the entire surface area of the outside body. Temporary amnesia forces me to forget who sponsored that Asian goddess; I can only guess the issue was from '03 or '04. So help a poor girl out-is there any way I can get a back issue on an issue that old?

Unless you're referencing a different magazine altogether, the only car we can think from those years with a radical airbrushed paint job is the Alpine Civic. Does this ring a bell?
