Ahh, memories. I remember ten years ago like it was, um, ten years ago. Times were different; I was still in college (barely), I couldn't drink (legally), owned a Honda (Acura), and Mugen was my mantra (still is). I remember when a homie, Ed (Eng), got a job at some wacky new magazine called Super Street, I thought to myself, "man, that ish is going to go about as far as this whole, w, w, w, dot, thing." Little did I know back then, not only would my Integra end up on the cover of this tawdry startup magazine, but I would eventually work there--gasp, full-time. Fate has a twisted sense of humor.
With all this stirred up nostalgia, I figured it'd be cool to stir up a roster of Readers' Rides heralding back from '97. Before you ask why '97 and not '96, that's because the '97 year model is manufactured and sold in '96, hence '97 (in automotive terms) is a decade ago, so there (I'd stick my tongue out at you but Kate, our new copy editor, would probably edit out the "equal" sign and "P").
As for the rest of you living in the now, if you ever wanted your car proudly displayed in this section, send your stuff in here:readersrides@superstreetonline.com ; or to Super Street, Attn: Readers' Rides, 6420 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048. So get up and get on, because we need another ten years of your rides. But before you go, sit back a second, relax, and take a look at some cars that were once fresh (and stock) on the showroom floor a decade ago.
This months lucky and very complete entry goes to scary Karey Duhaney of Miami, FL who won a set of Initial D DVDs from Tokyopop www.tokyopop.com
