In our scene, models come and go; they're a dime a dozen. Ok, maybe a dollar.Or two. But every once in a very rare blue moon, you'll come across a girl so damn fine, you'd heist a piggy bank out of Fort Knox for her. Like Melyssa Grace. A product of Filipino and German parents, Melyssa was raised in Hawaii. Can she hula? You bet your coconuts. Like ABBA, she's a dancing queen. Back in the modeling game for less than a minute, she's about to do big things. Evening forecast? A sapphire-stained moon, bluer than the contents of my shorts.
When did you first know that you wanted to be a model?
I remember wanting to be a model even before grade school. I used to watch beauty pageants on TV with my mother, and I would tell her that I was going to be like that when I grew up. I would mock the contestants by making my own runway down the bedroom hallway to the living room, waving my hand from side to side, batting my eyelashes [laughs].
How did you get into modeling?
I started with pageants at the age of 13 and did runway until I was about 16. I stopped for awhile to make more time to participate in school activities and graduate. Then just last September, I worked with a photographer who needed my look and re-introduced me to the industry.
What events will you be at this year?
I will be at all of the H.I.N shows. I am a tour model, so you can usually find me chilling out in the model lounge. Also, I hang around the downtown San Diego area, so if you missed me on tour, downtown S.D. is the place to catch a glimpse of me with the girls.
What's the most enjoyable part of being at a car show?
Umm. The cars? [laughs] Just kidding. Actually, I like meeting other import models and making new friends. Seems like every show I go to, I have a new favorite model.
Besides you of course, who's the hottest import model?
I love Alicia Whitten's look and Jennifer Nukul's killer personality. Those two girls are such sweethearts. Alicia and Jennifer are my two most favorite models.
