When Password JDM builds a car they like to go all out. Being the ultra-hyphy JDM connoisseurs they are, this build is no different. Rather than taking the reliable formulas for speed (i.e. DC2/EG/EK) Password wanted to do something entirely different. Back in July 2006, a car had to be chosen and the final decision was to buy a new Civic sedan and turn it into an FD2 Type R replica (something yet to be done at the time). That might not be too difficult today since Honda released the popular Si sedan, but the task of removing the stock SOHC from this model, and replacing it with a K20/24 hybrid beast built by Realtime Racing, was a more complicated task than anyone had really anticipated.
Fortunately, Leo Kwok and the crew from Password quickly found all of the body parts are direct replacements for the US counterparts when installed in together. We think they only did the conversion so they could rock the sick looking JDM-only Mugen aero kit. The Brembo brakes and Buddy Club suspension were also relatively painless to throw on. The Password JDM Recaros top off the race necessities to get this car out on the track for some ass-kicking. Unfortunately, some unforeseen transmission complications will keep this car from making its debut anytime soon, but Leo assures us he has other plans up his sleeve. "We built the car because it was the cool thing to do," says Leo. For anyone else trying to replicate the FD2 CTR he highly recommends saving a lot of time, money and headache by "[starting] with a 4 door Si!"
