In preparation for the Castrol Syntec Top Car Challenge, our boy Cheston Chiu decided to perform a leakdown and compression test on his 350's twin-turbo VQ35 before it's time to get busy. He discovered afterwards that a few cylinders had a variance in compression numbers and rather than subject the current setup to possible disaster, decided it would be best to tear the engine down and have it inspected to make sure it's up to par. At the hands of Technosquare's technicians, we'll find out if the built bottom end consisting of JE pistons and Carillo rods will be able to continue on or if the internals will need to be sent out for another WPC treatment. Or maybe Cheston will just decide to go balls out with an entire new setup? He did mention something that rhymes with 'Cosworth' and if that's the case, we're eager to see what's in store for our competition vehicle.

The Castrol Syntec Top Car Challenge puts Super Street up against six other Source Interlink Media magazines - including Import Tuner, Modified, eurotuner, Honda Tuning, Lowrider and 5.0 Mustang - in a battle to see who can bring the best all-around performer to a series of performance tests (1/4 mile, trap speed, horsepower, power-to-weight, emissions, acceleration, braking, endurance, vehicle cost and lap time), pushing the car to 100% of its capabilities. The winner gets all the bragging rights and one very lucky person will win $10K for entering the sweepstakes at the Castrol Syntec Top Car Challenge website.
