The high-performance ST models of Ford’s Focus and Fiesta hatchbacks are big hits, popular with buyers and dominant in Global Rallycross. In fact, the Fiesta ST has doubled Ford’s pre-order expectations in Europe while sweeping podiums in GRC competition on both continents. The Focus ST features a turbocharged 2.0-liter that pumps out 252 horsepower while the smaller Fiesta ST sports a 1.6-liter turbo four rated at 197 horsepower. Buyers of these beasts also get free training at the Ford ST Octane Academy. Just pay for airfare and hotel accommodations and let the hammer drop. Conducted at Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City, Utah, the program starts with a tour of Ken Block’s own Hoonigan Racing digs, then it’s a classroom session followed up by on-track counseling, hot laps and ride-alongs with instructors. The Academy uses its own ST models adorned with the proper safety equipment up to and including roll bars.
