Scion Tuner Challenge Conclusion

Speedhunters wins with a Maximum Attack FR-S

Nov 7, 2014

By now you've heard that we participated in the 2014 Scion Tuner Challenge against GT Channel and Speedhunters. Each of the three builds were wildly different from the clean JDM style GT Channel brought out to the stripped race style of Speedhunters. For our show-inspired FR-S build, we included the legendary aero styling of Kei Miura, sick wheels by BBS, Recaro seats, Personal steering wheel, and the only individual throttle bodies setup in the country - the only one!

However, even after crushing the online voting portion thanks to you, it wasn't enough to top first place winner Speedhunter's retro-inspired build. The KM4SH kit, the TRD livery, and even small bits such as the fender mirrors made for a unique entry. GT Channel also brought out a good fight and came in third with its Mine's themed FR-S. It was a close decision and we don't envy the judges - each style was so different it ultimately came down to the taste of those wielding the score sheets.

It was a tough battle leading up to the competition. We advise any future Scion Tuner Challenge competitors to remember Murphy's Law-anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Nonetheless, as cliché as it may sound, we did gain a lot of solid friendships and memories. And the $7,000 check isn't that bad either. We will come back stronger than ever next year!
