Whether you first saw it on the big screen driven by Paul Walker, or maybe a YouTube clip of Jun Auto power sliding in Tsukuba, the Toyota Supra for many will forever remain legendary. The Supra community rolled pretty deep at the 21st annual ToyotaFest event held at the Queen Mary Events Park in Long Beach, Calif. And while all of them were special in their own way, it was our first time seeing Joe Recinos' right-hand drive '95 Mark IV Supra and we were hooked.
Joe's exterior upgrades, slathered in custom Midnight Purple II paint, include a quintessential Ridox front lip and splitter, and instead of a GT or TRD wing, Joe opted for a more subtle and contemporary Rocket Bunny style spoiler. Though it's a '95 model, Joe sourced '98 taillights and headlights for a more updated look. Handling is improved with a set of HKS Hypermax II coilovers and TRD sway bars complemented by a classic set of Volk SF Challenge wheels.
When asked nicely, Joe is totally down to open his hood to show you the insane amount of work he's done. The 2JZ-GTE is merged with a 6767 triple ball bearing billet Comp Turbo and a host of other top-shelf goodies that easily make 771whp.
Joe keeps it classy in the cabin with Recaro SRD Confetti seats and a variety of rad TRD parts that include a10k tachometer along with a couple of custom carbon fiber dash panel pieces that help to finish the interior. An Auto Power roll cage insures his car is approved for SCCA and NASA open road racing or drifting, if he pleases.
If you were hoping for a wild, over-the-top, 1,000hp,widebody Supra, you'll have to look somewhere else. Simple and bold is the name of the game with this well-built JZA80.
