The Exotics Racing Experience

We stop by Exotics Racing on our annual Las Vegas trip

During our '16 Las Vegas staff retreat we couldn't hang with what seems to be a normal weekend for Mr. Duspeed, so we took a break and headed 20 minutes north of the strip towards Las Vegas Motor Speedway. If getting ridiculously wasted at clubs and gambling aren't on your Las Vegas itinerary and you would rather be behind the wheel of an exotic supercar, the folks at Exotics Racing have you covered. And we're not talking about the cheesy exotic car rental. Unless you're Floyd Mayweather, you're not fooling anyone cruising with that Lamborghini down the strip. Exotics Racing is way cooler in that they'll let you actually push the limits of say, a Ferrari 458 or a Lamborghini Aventador LP700, on a specially designed track.

Do you need to win the jackpot to drive one of these exotic cars? Nope. The experience isn't as expensive as you think. To put it into perspective, you can drive five laps with a McLaren 570S for less than what you'd pay for table service at a nightclub. After registering, you're not just thrown on the track right away. You'll need to go through a short class to go over the do's and don'ts. Whether you have zero track experience or are a seasoned driver, for safety reasons, a professional driver rides shotgun during your laps. As luck would have it, Exotics Racing got one of the first Ferrari 488s available to the public and we chose our resident social media guru, Mike Sabounchi, to get the full experience. Low key, we were a bit jealous, but getting exclusive access to the VIP lounge was pretty sweet. The contemporary styled room had racing and Steve McQueen art throughout the room as well as refreshments for us to freeload off of. Mike says, "My time at Exotics was beyond bittersweet. Yes, I got to drive a dream Ferrari (488 GTB), but sadly it was over before I knew it. The entire five-lap stint only took eight minutes! Remember when you played that 'five-minutes in heaven' game when you were a kid? It was a lot like that. I was finally all alone with my love, I got to do anything I wanted but I was way too nervous to push too hard and before I knew it, the time was over. Needless to say, if I had more money and more time, I would pay almost anything to spend more time with that Ferrari on that track."

Exotics Racing is truly an experience you don't want to miss. It's exceedingly better than being hung-over or losing money gambling. Ditch Cirque du Soleil and drive an exotic like you stole it!
