Whip out your smartphone, visit tuccihotrods.com and you're greeted with a slew of top notch, high-end restomod beauties flickering across your finger-smudged screen. Dave Tucci and his son Dominic are responsible for working their magic on a long list of classics, including a '31 Model A, '70 Mustang Fastback, '41 Cadillac and more recently, a '16 Ford Fiesta ST. Ok, so maybe that last one doesn't quite sit within the same circle, but one look at their unique take on Ford's supermini and you get the idea that this father and son duo can make something happen with just about anything on wheels.
Not surprising — at least, if you went through their portfolio before looking this over — is the bodywork and paint are picture perfect. PPG Pure White was slathered over a custom wide-body treatment that turns the once rather innocent, fun-loving Fiesta ST into an aggressive little troublemaker.
Up front, just above the one-off splitter, is a DC HiLights flex light bar. Just north of that, beyond the custom carbon fiber adorned headlights, you'll find hood-mounted vents, similar to the fenders — both of which are Ultimaker 3-D printed pieces. If you frequent any car blogs or social media pages, or perhaps just have a set of eyes in decent working condition, you've seen a thousand flares tacked onto all types of vehicles. It's all the rage and many are ready for a break, but when you see it done properly, like the Tucci Hot Rods ST, it just feels right.
What good would a widebody Fiesta be without a little more "oomph?" Dave and Dominic checked that off the list with a Full Race turbo kit, custom exhaust with center-exit Borla muffler, and a Cobb Accessport V3. Mountune's LSD and a Spec stage IV clutch help harness the additional horses.
Since they were already getting a little grease under their nails, the team put together a custom 5-lug conversion, Wilwood 6-piston brake kit, JRI coilovers, and a set of Eibach anti-sway bars to increase the fun (and safety) factor exponentially. Then, just like that, they decided that the anemic factory wheels would work just fine. That's a lie; these guys aren't new to proper wheel and tire sizing, so they went with 18x10-inch Forgeline CF1s wrapped in 255/40 Falken Azenis RT615Ks to fill those girthy wheel wells.
If you're going to do all of that incredible work to the engine, suspension, and exterior, you've got to make some changes inside the cabin. Knowing this, the Tuccis yanked the stock seats to make room for a set of Sparco Pro 2000 II buckets, laced them with 6-point belts, and surrounded them with a TMR roll cage before adding the final touch — a Racepak IQ3S display.
For their efforts, the Tuccis received the nod from Ford with a Special Recognition Award. Apparently we weren't the only ones blown away by this little monster as these guys were fielding questions about the build all week and the foot traffic never really seemed to let up. Here's to a job well done with a platform that doesn't get nearly enough attention — especially on this level.
