High-Powered on the Persian Gulf Coast: A quick tour of Dubai's premiere, one-stop speed shop

Our trigger-happy globetrotter, Chad Burdette, has spent the last 12 months living well outside of his hometown of Atlanta, Ga. Though he dabbled in Japan for a stint and a few other regions, most of his year has been spent in Thailand, picking up countless photo gigs and providing quite a bit of content to our network. That all ended recently, when he decided it was time to make his way back to the U.S. — but not before making one final trip, this time to Dubai.

One of the first stops on his travel wish list was F Performance, which was founded in 2013 by partners Salem and Talub. The high-performance shop caters to Dubai UAE as well as the majority of Arabian Gulf countries, and churns out some of the fastest cars in the region, which based on what's floating around in Dubai, is a very tall order. If the name sounds at all familiar, you might have caught one of the shop's cars on The Grand Tour series on Amazon or perhaps a 1320 Video, the likes of which has garnered well over a million views. More locally, the Yaz Super Street Challenge, which pits shops from across the Gulf region against one another, resulted in F Performance finishing in second place for a few years in a row prior to taking the top spot in the 2016-17 season.

Now proven to be a performance staple in Dubai, the shop really started out of pure frustration. Salem had grown tired of the less-than-satisfactory work being offered in the region and saw the lack of quality as an opportunity to capitalize and make an impact on the market with a shop focused on quality and results. He reached out to Talub, who had previously owned a shop in UAE, and the duo agreed to open the doors to F Performance. A slew of talented local and international tuning and fabrication specialists have passed through the doors, and the current staff keeping their loyal customer-base happy consists of 17 employees, including an ex-Switzer Performance lead calibrator and a current Syvecs Ltd. team member.

One glance around the shop and it's obvious these guys mean business. Excessive power oozes throughout the garage with projects like the high-powered Nissan Patrol SUV builds that make upwards of 1,600hp with their native power plant, as well as R35-swapped versions that have no problem eclipsing the 2,000hp mark. Not outside the box enough? How about a Nissan Juke-R that makes over 1,200hp, or the multiple sand buggy's they've managed to coax over 1,500hp from? And then, of course, there's that 7-second GT-R they produced, which was not only the quickest in Dubai but currently stands as the second quickest GT-R on earth.

To offer customers the most complete service in the region, F Performance houses a Centroid 5-axis head/block CNC machine, powder coating booth, fabrication, engine and transmission services, and they build and rebuild just about anything you can imagine, in-house. Tuning sessions are performed on their Mustang AWD dyno or their Mainline Hub dyno and they're well versed in Motec, Syvecs, and Cobb, and work with partners to accommodate a whole host of other systems. In just four short years, F Performance has become the region's true one-stop performance shop.

Here are some of the cars you can expect to see at F Performance, courtesy of Chad Burdette.
